We realized last fall that we’re pretty invested in food. No, we’re not talking about our waistlines but the number of food-related clients we are lucky to work with. Our clients include many up and coming restaurants, food brands, and even a 37 county local food certification program. We’re fortunate to have branded beer, chocolate, nut butter, BBQ sauce, coffee and just started working with Farmer’s Daughter. On the restaurant side, we are currently branding/marketing Venable Rotisserie Bistro (opens this week), Pizzeria Toro (coming this fall), Rise Biscuits & Donuts (coming soon), and we’re naming/branding/marketing a new eatery soon to open in Davidson, NC. We work with some of the best chefs on the planet, including James Beard award-winners and nominees.
On that note, Chef John Currence just celebrated the 20th Anniversary of his flagship restaurant City Grocery with a series of incredible events and a new logo you see on this here page. Triangle old schoolers may remember JC as the singer for late 80s powerhouse Chapter 2 (music relationships run deep), but most now know him as a Top Chef Masters contestant and one of the most well respected chefs in the business today. John operates a restaurant empire in Oxford, MS with 4 incredible eateries and a catering business under the umbrella City Grocery Restaurant Group. We’ve been on retainer for the last 4 years and are proud to have branded many of these restaurants and to provide ongoing design and marketing support. You’ll see a few recent menus for the 20th below. Congrats to JC, Angie and the City Grocery team!
This month we also learned that Ben and Karen Barker decided to close Magnolia Grill at the end of the month. We are honored to have designed their only website and have truly enjoyed our 6+ year client relationship and 20+ year love affair with their food. We are happy that they are going out on top (Magnolia Grill won 2011 restaurant of the year in the N&O) and with class and wish Ben and Karen the best. If you haven’t seen the farewell message they had us replace their website with, click here to head over there now. Splinter and significant others will enjoy a final Magnolia Grill meal this Thursday.
In closing, Splinter likes food. Food, glorious food…
