What a wild ride it has been for Only Burger. Three years ago Tom Ferguson from Durham Catering Co. called to tell us he was buying a food truck and had a concept to make the best burger in the world. Could we brand it and wrap the truck within the week?
What? I mean, sure.
That first season found the truck mainly in and around Duke campus and I think they took the winter off. Enter Brian Bottger and Only Burger literally took off the next year behind innovative marketing spotlighting Twitter, Facebook and a GPS unit on the truck. As the poster child for Durham’s exploding mobile food scene, Only Burger was featured in The New York Times, Southern Living and a host of other local and regional papers and magazines. Then, in fall 2010 Only Burger opened their first restaurant. While it’s still fun to stumble on or find the truck, you can get your burger fix at a hard location.
